From the Principal:
Dear Parents and Carers,
At Tuesday’s assembly we welcomed Tania from Deloraine House who spoke to the children about the services that they offer to our local community. Her fun fact for the session was that there are more Neighbourhood Houses like Deloraine House in the state than McDonalds Restaurants. Listening to Tania was an interesting experience for the students who had a number of questions for her about all the activities and services that they provide.
As part of our assembly we presented Tania with some donations that the staff and families of our school have provided. At our staff Spirituality Day recently, after having explored further the works of Catherine McAuley the founder of the Sister of Mercy, our staff decided that whilst doing food and clothing drives a couple of times a year was noble and of value, that our contribution to the local community is needed more regularly. So the staff have set up a donation basket in the entrance of the school in which they can place an item or two that we may purchase on our weekly visit to the supermarket. This may include such things as nappies, toiletries and non-perishable food items. We warmly invite any of our school families who are inclined to contribute whenever they would like to. As the basket gets full our Mercy Crew volunteers will make sure that it gets delivered to Deloraine House for dispersal within our community.
