From the Principal:
Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Thursday night we witnessed our students from Grades 3-6 do themselves and our school proud. A wonderfully funny, witty, and beautifully cast show Pirates V’s Mermaids has received many, many glowing comments from Deloraine's wider community both on the night and throughout the past week.
Our wonderful Drama and Music teacher Jacquie Wood is to be congratulated for her ability to allow our children to shine through such a performance.
I also note the attendance and support of so many of our staff. From costume maker Anita Bowman to the makeup artists and costume tweakers, supervisors, and backstage supporters, it comes to the fore that our staff is dedicated and committed to our students on such occasions as these. They are not doing their job they are filling their vocation. The joy they took from watching children shine on the stage was wonderful to witness.
Please take the time to enjoy the Pirates v’s Mermaids performance through the following link.

St Patrick's College & St Brendan-Shaw College Enrolments:
We are aware that St Patrick’s College has rejected some Year 7 applications from the local area.
Spread the Word Children enrolled at Our Lady of Mercy are guaranteed a place at their Catholic secondary school of choice - St Patrick's College or St Brendan Shaw College. Please let your friends know that our school has so much to offer. Remember, that no child will be excluded from Catholic education because of family finances.
Student Attendance:
Every day school attendance counts!
At Our Lady Of Mercy we have an Absentee Policy. Part of this policy focuses on making sure we communicate to parents. Parents will be contacted by the school for:
Unexplained absences - unexplained absences include when the school is not contacted when a child is absent from school.
10 or more days absent within a term - even if these absences are explained or for valid reasons.
In some situations there are valid reasons for prolonged or regular absences from School, (e.g. broken limbs, serious illness, family holidays). The school understands this and supports parents in these situations.
If your child is absent you can contact us via compass app, or phone us on 63622323 or 0439347914.
Student Safety:
As a rural school with many of our children travelling on school buses, we need to know that our students are safe. If your child regularly travels by bus but is absent from school, it is important that you notify us. It is just as important that you respond to the SMS message if you have forgotten to let us know. Please assist us to know that your child is safe and where they should be.
Kind regards,
Mary Bennett

Meander Valley Council:
Welcome to the 2024 Garage Sale Trail!
Are you ready to declutter, discover hidden treasures, and foster community spirit? We’re excited to encourage our valued schools to host a fabulous garage sale as part of the nationwide Garage Sale Trail!
As part of our commitment to supporting residents to minimise waste, Meander Valley Council is bringing Garage Sale Trail to Meander Valley this spring. With tens of thousands of garage sales happening across Australia on 9-10 and 16-17 November, Garage Sale Trail is a great way to clear out and cash in by hosting a garage sale or shopping the trail.
Imagine transforming your school grounds into a bustling marketplace, filled with quirky finds, vintage gems, and all sorts of treasures waiting for new homes. This year we would like to extend the invitation towards our dedicated schools, to encourage community garage sales across Meander Valley. We reckon this might be a great opportunity for you to encourage community connection and as a fundraising opportunity.
It's free to register, and there are how-to guides and promotional resources we can equip you with to make your community garage sale a success. The trail goes over two weekends, however you could choose one day out of the four to host your sale.
Register for free if you'd like to be involved, spread the word, and let’s turn Meander Valley into a treasure trove!
Ready, set, garage sale!
